Vihula, 13 April 2018 – today, while speaking at the higher social protection course organised by the Ministry of Social Affairs and the European Social Fund, Prime Minister Jüri Ratas emphasised the importance of the comprehensive development of the country.
“In Estonia, we are used to thinking of the social sphere, the economy, and the environment as conflicting domains. They often represent contradictory concepts in public debate or competing areas, where investing into one causes loss for the others. This is certainly not the right perspective,” the prime minister emphasised. According to him, one of the most fundamental changes in the economic policy of the current government is that when facilitating economic growth, they wish for everyone to benefit from it, so it could be at the service of the society in the best possible way.
The objective of the higher social course is to reach a common understanding of social, labour, and health policies in the country and to show the opportunities of cooperation in increasing the well-being of the people of Estonia. The course is aimed at heads of local governments, the public sector, and the private sector as well as journalists.
The topic of the higher social protection course taking place for the third year is public health and shared responsibility for this domain. Over the course of three days, many top specialists in the fields of health and social protection gave presentations in Vihula
