The Estonian Centre Party has the most competent team and the best program to lead Tallinn
“Jaak, why are you running for Tallinn City Council if your main job is representing Estonia’s interests in the European Parliament?” — this question has been asked of me frequently lately.
The reason is simple — Tallinn is my hometown. I spend half of my time in Estonia, and my son attends kindergarten and preschool in Tallinn. I feel that, both as a citizen and as a politician, I have a duty to apply my political experience in my hometown as well, not just in Brussels. I am currently an active member of the council and well-informed about matters in Tallinn.
Ossinovski drove the city into a deadlock
Additional motivation to run comes from the incredibly incompetent actions of the current city government — or, one could say, the city mismanagement. I cannot watch passively as the living conditions in the city worsen with each passing month.
Over the past year and a half, Tallinn has become a stark warning of what happens when incompetent leaders are in charge. The Social Democrats, Reform Party, Eesti 200, and Isamaa promised to manage the city better than the Centre Party. In reality, we got unprecedented traffic jams, disappearing trash bins, a district elder who fled to Asia, and a failed snow removal system. Surveys show that Tallinn residents’ satisfaction with their city has dropped to the lowest level in the past decade.
When the Centre Party was in charge, it was taken for granted that everything worked. Now, residents are forced to experience firsthand what chaotic and ideologically-driven governance means. What do I mean by “ideological fanaticism”? It is when the interests of the majority of citizens are put aside in favor of minority groups — whether cargo bike owners, couriers, or even… insects.
LET’S GET TALLINN OUT OF THE DEADLOCK!
In the October elections, city residents will have a choice: continue living in chaos or vote for those who will restore professional governance.
The Centre Party has a plan to restore familiar services and their quality. We will bring back smooth and reliable traffic flow and clean, orderly streets. We will once again involve residents and experts in city management.
The Centre Party is going to the elections with a renewed team, including many new members. Among them are people who have fought against tax increases and collected tens of thousands of signatures to stop the failed policies of the Reform Party government. At the same time, the party’s “old guard” remains in place — professionals competent in economics, medicine, and urban management.
I do not exaggerate when I say that in municipal matters, the Centre Party has the most experienced and professional team. No one else comes close. And I am convinced that the Centre Party has the best program for managing Tallinn.
Let’s get Tallinn out of the deadlock — both literally and figuratively!
