The Estonian Center Party welcomes Jaak Madison, who joined the party to jointly stand for the interests of sovereign Estonia in a strong European Union.
The chairman of the Center Party, Mihhail Kõlvart, emphasized that Jaak Madison’s joining will bring new strength and energy to the party, which will help realize the goals of the Center Party both in Estonia and at the European level. “Jaak Madison is a politician who firmly stands for national values and is committed to protecting Estonia’s interests in Europe. I am convinced that the overly soft approach of the governments led by the Reform Party to Brussels directives has sometimes been harmful to Estonia. Together with Jaak Madison, we can stand up for Estonia’s interests even more effectively than before and to design a realistic policy that takes into account our national characteristics and needs,” said Kõlvart.
Jaak Madison expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation. “It is a great honor for me to join the Center Party, which has a clear vision to protect Estonia’s sovereignty in the European Union and a solid plan to save Estonia’s economy,” said the member of the European Parliament. “I would like to assure the voters of the Center Party and myself that together we are ready to stand even more strongly for the interests of the Estonian people and the country. Together we can better protect the people of Estonia and be an effective counterweight to excessive bureaucracy and unjustified regulations that inhibit the development of our economy.”
Mihhail Kõlvart said that against the backdrop of global instability and geopolitical challenges, it is particularly important that Estonia’s voice be heard clearly and forcefully.
At the level of the European Union, the Center Party is currently a member of ALDE (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats), which in turn belongs to the Renew Europe faction. The MEP Jana Toom works there. Jaak Madison, a recent member of the Central Party, belongs to the ECR (European Conservatives and Reformists) faction. According to Mihhail Kõvart, the board of the Center Party gathered this morning proposed to the council to consider factional affiliation in the European Parliament, choosing the faction that best reflects the Center Party’s centrist worldview and Estonia’s national interests.
Mihhail Kõlvart added that the Center Party firmly stands for the fact that, although environmental issues are important, the green revolution must not hinder the development of the European and Estonian economy. “We are worried that Europe’s over-regulated economic policy is deepening the gap with the USA and Asian countries. Jaak Madison’s joining the Center Party will bring the Center Party’s voice to the fore in the European Parliament even stronger and more firmly. I am sure that Jana Toom and Jaak Madison will form a strong and effective team,” said the chairman of the Center Party.
